Crusaders End Season In ECAC Semifinals

Kelley Saves Five For Crusaders

Frostburg, Md. (Nov. 13, 2010) - Top-seeded Frostburg St. (16-4) scored the only goal of the game in the ninth minute and advanced to the Eastern College Athletic Conference South Region Women's Soccer Championship with a 1-0 win over #4 Alvernia University Saturday evening.

The Bobcats will face #6 Marywood University, a 1-0 winner over #2 Grove City, in the ECAC Final on Sunday.

Facing a 1-0 deficit at halftime, Alvernia turned up the pressue with 10 of its 13 shots coming in the second half, but Frostburg keeper Michelle Buckmaster made six of her eight saves in the second half to preserve the shutout.

Alvernia had a few golden opportunities, but couldn't find the net.  Rachel Gimber (Gilbertsville, Pa./Boyertown) hit the crossbar, and Buckmaster was up to the task on a header and a corner play.

The Crusaders end their record-breaking season with a program best 13 wins.
