Haverford, Pa. (Sept. 11, 2010) - Alvernia University (2-1-1) got a pair of goals in the first half and added one early in the second in a 3-1 win over Gwynedd-Mercy College (0-4) Saturday afternoon in day one action of the Jimmy Mills Men's Soccer Tournament hosted by Haverford College.

Kyle Martin (Media, Pa./Penncrest) opened the scoring assisted by Kyle Mellon (Philadelphia, Pa./Father Judge) and Eric Franks (Reading, Pa./Exeter) added the second of the game and his second of the year still in the first.  

Domenic Montone (Elkins Park, Pa./Abington) scored the third goal of the game assisted by current Commonwealth Conference Player of the Week Morgan Davidheiser (Boyertown, Pa./Boyertown).  GMC spoiled the shutout four minutes after Montone's tally, but ended there.

Ben Diller (Etters, Pa./Red Land) made three saves in 56 minutes and Drew Gilbert (Reading, Pa./Antietam) played the balance and made one save.

Alvernia will face Cabrini College Sunday afternoon at Haverford.
