Crusaders Match Best Start With 2-1 Win Over Lancaster Bible

Reading, Pa. (Sept. 18, 2010) - Senior Morgan Davidheiser (Boyertown, Pa./Boyertown) notched a gaol and an assist and Alvernia University (5-1-1) matched its best start with a 2-1 win over Lancaster Bible College (2-3) Saturday afternoon in non-conference men's soccer at Schlager Memorial Field.

The game was scoreless through the first 45 minutes of play with Alvernia getting just four of its game total 15 shots in the first half.

Sophomore EJ Logan (Frederick Md./Frederick) scored the game's first goal, assisted by Davidheiser, seven minutes into the second half, but the Chargers needed just three minutes to find the equalizer.

The host Crusaders racked up seven shots over the next 21 minutes, but coulnd't beat LBC keeper Grant Lockard until Davidheiser burried an assist from Kyle Martyn (Media, Pa./Penncrest) for the game-winner.

Alvernia keeper Ben Diller (Etters, Pa./Red Land) made two saves -- one in each half-- and a pair of Charger goalies combined for five stops.

The Crusaders were 5-1-1 to start the 2006 season and will face Ursinus College on Wednesday afternoon in Collegeville.
