BOX SCORE
Reading, Pa. (Sept. 20, 2010) - Junior
Amy Mesce (Pittstown, N.J./Delaware Valley Regional) moved into third place in career goals with a pair of markers and
Kirsten Kelley (Kirkwood, Pa./Bishop Shanahan) tied the shutouts in a season mark with her fourth as Alvernia University (5-2-1) blanked York College (1-5-1), 3-0 Monday afternoon in non-conference women's soccer action at Schlager Memorial Field.
Mesce opened the scoring unassisted in the 32nd minute and freshman
Brittany Adamski (Pottstown, Pa./The Hill School) netted the first of her career assisted by
Kelsey Gill (State College, Pa./State College Area) in the 61st minute. Mesce's second came on a penalty kick with 10 minutes to play.
Kelley needed five saves to record the shutout while the Spartans cycled three keepers who combined to stop six.
The Crusaders have five shutouts as a team this season, three shy of the team mark of eight set in 2003. Kelley joins three other keepers who have recorded four shutouts in a season including career leader
Katie Einsel (2003-06) who had four of the team's eight in '03 and totalled 11 for her career.
Mesce has 16 goals for her career, but is that many shy of second place held by Sarra Hager (2000-03) and 23 short of career goals leader Brandi Light (2004-07).
