Alvernia Falls To Messiah

Crusaders Come Out Strong, But Fall 0-3

Reading, Pa. (Sept. 21, 2010) - Alvernua University (3-7, 1-1 Comm.) fell to visiting Messiah College (10-3, 2-0 Comm.) this evening in Commonwealth Conference volleyball action three games to none.  The Crusaders came out strong with a 25-19 showing in the first game, but dropped the next two 25-12 and 25-14.

Gabrielle Albanesius (Philadelphia, Pa./Merion Mercy) and Diane Lightner (Gaithersburg, Md./Academy of the Holy Cross) led the way for Alvernia with five kills apiece, and Albanesius added six aces.  Toni Maurer (Center Valley, Pa./Southern Lehigh) paced the Crusaders on defense with a team-high 11 digs. 

Alvernia returns to action Sept. 28th when they travel to Elizabethtown for a Commonwealth Conference match-up beginning at 6:00 pm.
