Alvernia Scored A Season-High Four Goals

BOX SCORE

Reading, Pa. (Sept. 27, 2010) - Alvernia (7-2-1) netted a season-high four goals as they defeated visiting Valley Forge Christian College (4-6) this afternoon in a rainy non-conference match-up.  The Crusaders fired off 17 shots, earned 15 corner kicks and had goals from four different players this afternoon.

Alvernia took the 1-0 lead in the 26th minute as Brittany Adamski (Pottstown, Pa./The Hill School) was assisted by both Sara Gimber (Gilbertsville, Pa./Boyertown) and Kelsey Gill (State College, Pa./State College Area) for her third goal of the season.  Less than five minutes later Amy Mesce (Pittstown, NJ/Delaware Valley) put Alvernia up 2-0 with her team-leading sixth goal of the season.  Alvernia rode their 2-0 lead into halftime, holding the Patriots shotless in the first half.

The second half was more of the same as Alvernia quickly scored their third goal in the 51st minute.  Julianne Giordano (Parlin, NJ/Sayreville War Memorial) assisted Hillary Prozillo (Swedesboro, NJ/Bishop Eustace Prep) to put the Cruaders up 3-0 on a shot that  just slipped through the goalie's hands.  Alvernia's final tally came courtesy of a penalty kick from Kara Ross (Quakertown, Pa./Quakertown).

The Patriots managed just one shot all game and had three corners.

Your Crusaders are back in action Wednesday night as they host PSU-Berks at 7:00pm.
