Reading, Pa. (Sept. 28, 2010) - Junior Eric Franks (Reading, Pa./Exeter) gave Alvernia (6-2-1) the win  this evening in non-conference action on Schlager Memorial Field with just six minutes remaining in double overtime as he eluded the DeSales (7-3) defense and fired off a low rope that was just past the Bulldog goalkeeper.  Alvernia goalie Drew Gilbert (Reading, Pa./Antietam) needed five saves for his first win of the season.

The first half was a Bulldog dominated affair as they outshot Alvernia 9-2, but the Crusaders turned that around outshooting DeSales 8-4 in the second half.  Each side has one shot in overtime and Alvernia had the only double overtime shot - the game winner from Franks.  The goals from Franks was his third on the season and his second game-winner.

Alvernia will return to action on Oct. 2nd when they travel to Elizabethtown to open their Commonwealth Conference season at 7:00pm.
