Alvernia Falls In Three Sets At Etown

Maurer Leads With 20 Digs

- Elizabethtown College (11-5, 2-1) earned a three-set win over Alvernia University (3-8, 1-2) Tuesday evening in Commonwealth Conference women's volleyball action at Thompson Gymnasium.

The Blue Jays jumped out with 25-18 and 25-14 wins in the first two sets before squeezing out a 27-25 win in the third.

Alvernia got a match-best 20 digs from freshman Toni Maurer (Center Valley, Pa./Southern Lehigh).  It was the second time this season Maurer has recorded at least 20 digs in a match.  The Crusaders offense was led by Angela Altemose (Pottsville, Pa./Nativity BVM) who burried 10 kills on the night.

Alvernia joins Delaware Valley and Manhattanville at Arcadia this weekend for a MAC crossover event.
