Landis And Wanamaker Finish With Two Assists Each

BOX SCORE

Doylestown, Pa. (Sept. 29, 2010) - Junior Tonya Rutt (Ephrata, Pa./Ephrata) scored her sixth goal of the season and Sam Landis (Watsontown, Pa./Warrior Run) and Chelsea Wanamaker (Temple, Pa./Oley Valley) had a pair of assists each leading Alvernia University (6-3) to a 3-2 win over Delaware Valley College (7-4) Wednesday afternoon in non-conference action.

Rutt got things started for the Crusaders assisted by Wanamaker in the 20th minute and Brittany Barcus (Atglen, Pa./Octorara) put the guests up 2-0 with her first goal of the year on a corner play just before the half.

Del Val cut into the lead eight minutes into the second half on Rony Jacober's sixth of the season, but the Crusaders were able to reset the two-goal spread when Miranda Peto (Phoenixville, Pa./Phoenixville) converted a pass from Landis less than two minutes later.

Jacober needed less than three minutes to tally her second of the game and the lead was 3-2 with better than 20 minutes left on the second-half clock.

Alvernia junior Abby Eby (New Holland, Pa./Garden Spot) made five of her six saves in the second half and the Aggies spoiled an opportunity with a minute to play that would have tied the score.  Hollis Hancock finished with nine saves for the Aggies.

Alvernia returns to the conference schedule Saturday as part of a tripleheader at Elizabethtown College.  Game time is 1:00 p.m.
