Toni Maurer (Center Valley, Pa./Southern Lehigh) was named to the All-Tournament team after racking up 82 digs and four service aces in four matches as Alvernia University went 0-4 at the Moravian Greyhound Premiere over the weekend.
Friday started with a four-set loss to Wilkes University followed by a three-set loss to eventual premiere champion Swarthmore College. Their 0-2 record sent the Crusaders into the Silver Bracket where they faced off with Ursinus College and Wesley College.
Ursinus knocked off Wesley 3-0 to start play in the Silver Bracket then needed five sets to top Alvernia and go 2-0 in the bracket. Wesley came back off the break to better Alvernia 3-0 to finish second in the Silver.
Maurer had a total of 56 assists in two matches on Friday and added 41 in the loss to Ursinus and 26 more against Wesley.
Angela Altemose (Pottsville, Pa./Nativity BVM) led the team offensively with 42 kills.
Alvernia will return home to face Lancaster Bible College on Thursday.
