BOX SCORE
Reading, Pa. (Sept. 7, 2010) - Freshman Colleen Klusewitz (Reading, Pa./Muhlenberg) scored her first career goal in the 82nd minute as Alvernia (3-1) defeated visiting F&M (1-1) this evening in non-conference action on Schlager Memorial Field.
The first half was a Crusader-dominated scoreless affair with Alvernia firing off ten shots and earning eight penalty corners to F&M's two shots. The Diplomats came charging back in the second half and quickly out shot Alvernia 4-0 in the first five minutes, and 7-2 for the entire half. Just as the game seem poised for overtime junior Kate Wimberg (Galloway, NJSacred Heart) sent a long ball into the box from the right side of the field that found Klusewitz in the midst of three F&M defenders. Klusewitz somehow managed a shot that snuck just past the outstretched goalie.
With their 3-1 start to the 2010 season, Alvernia is off to their best start in program history. They return to action on Sept. 11th when they travel to the Drew Classic Tournament to face Drew University at noon.
