Doylestown, Pa. (Oct. 1, 2011) - Alvernia University (7-7) split a pair of matches at a Middle Atlantic Conference volleyball crossover Saturday hosted by Delaware Valley College.  The Crusaders dropped their opener to the host Aggies 3-0 then came back with a 3-0 win over Wilkes University.

Freshman Liz Newman (Fleetwood, Pa./Brandywine Heights) was the leading hitter in both matches for the Crusaders ending the Del Val match with eight kills then totaling a dozen in the win over Wilkes.  Tori Beck (Quakertown, Pa./Quakertown) had 16 assists in the opener and followed with 19 assists in match two.

Alvernia returns to Commonwealth Conference action Tuesday with a trip to Widener University.
