Alvernia Falls 0-4 At Messiah

Crusaders Surrender Two Goals Each Half

BOX SCORE Grantham, Pa. (Oct. 22, 2011) - Alvernia (10-6, 3-2 Comm.) was held scoreless for just the second time this season as they fell to host #9 Messiah College (11-3, 5-0 Comm.) this afternoon in conference action at Anderson Field.  Alvernia gave up two goals in each half, including a penalty stroke in the second half.

The Falcons got on the board with a goal in the 23rd minute off a rebound from Alvernia's goalie and they added a second goal in the 29th minute off a penalty corner.  The Crusaders managed six shots and earned four penalty corners in the first half. 

The second half saw Messiah add some insurance with two goals from Kourtney Ehly; a goal in the 42nd minute and a successful penalty stroke in the 50th minute.  Alvernia had just four shots and two corner opportunities in the second half.

Alvernia goalie Erin Wunsch (West Lawn, Pa./Wilson) had six saves on the day.

The Crusaders return to action on Oct. 25th when the host Widener University in a 'Play for the Cure' Commonwealth Conference game beginning at 4:00pm.
