Reading, Pa. (Oct. 22, 2011) - Alvernia (8-11) rallied back after dropping the first set to defeat visiting Cedar Crest (8-15) this afternoon in the final game of the Alvernia Tri-Match held at Alvernia's Physical Education Center. The Crusaders took sets two and three by scores of 25-13 and 25-16 respectively, and finished off the Falcons with a 15-12 final set.
The Falcons rallied for 11 kills to take the first set 25-22 before the Crusaders battled back to take sets two and three. The fourth set went back to Cedar Crest by a close score of 25-23, while Alvernia put the game away with a 15-12 final set.
Alvernia was paced by
Alyssa Soltis (Allentown, Pa./Parkland) who had a game-high 24 kills and .477 hitting percentage.
Kristen Rupp (Cranford, NJ/Cranford) also impressed with 20 kills and 12 digs.
The Crusaders will wrap-up their season when they travel to Messiah College on Oct. 26th for a 7:00pm game.
