Reading, Pa. (Oct. 22, 2011) - Alvernia (7-11) fell 0-3 to visiting PSU-Berks (19-5) this morning in the opening game of the Alvernia Tri-Match held at Alvernia's Physical Education Center. The Crusaders were led by senior
Alyssa Soltis (Allentown, Pa./Parkland) who had six kills and
Tori Beck (Quakertown, Pa./Quakertown) who added 13 digs and 17 assists.
The Nittany Lions came out strong and capitalized on Alvernia's -.028 hitting percentage to take the first set 25-17. The Crusaders posted a game-high eight kills in the second set but eventuallu fell 18-25 and the third set was a repeat of the first with PSU-Berks winning 25-17 to take the game three sets to none.
The Lions will now face Cedar Crest in their second game of the Alvernia Tri-Match, while the Crusader will take on the Falcons from Cedar Crest at 1:00pm.
