Grantham, Pa. (Oct. 22, 2011) - Top-ranked Messiah College (15-0-1, 6-0) scored the only goal of the game with just over eight minutes left in regulation to sneak past Alvernia University (12-3-1, 5-1) Saturday evening in Commonwealth Conference men's soccer action at Messiah.

The Falcons scored on a strike from Danny Thompson at the 81:31 mark.

Alvernia junior Ben Diller (Etters, Pa./Red Land) made seven saves in net for the Crusaders while counterpart Jake Berry made four for the Falcons.

Alvernia will travel to Delaware Valley College for a non-conference game Tuesday and finish the regular season hosting conference foe Arcadia next Saturday.  Arcadia's 2-0 loss to Elizabethtown on Saturday means Alvernia will host a conference semifinal November 2.  Time and opponent are to be determined.
