Crusaders End Season With 3-1 Loss At Messiah

Soltis And Rupp Lead With 11 Kills Each

Grantham, Pa. (Oct. 26, 2011) - Alvernia University (8-12, 1-6) pushed undefeated Messiah College (20-5, 7-0) to a fourth set, but the Falcons ended on top with a 3-1 win Wednesday evening in Commonwealth Conference women's volleyball action at Messiah.

The Crusaders wrap up their season while the Falcons head into the Commonwealth playoffs as the top seed.

Messiah earned a 25-17 win in the opening set then cruised to a 25-12 win in the second set.  Alvernia was able to extend the match with a 25-17 win in the third set, but Messiah came back with a 25-16 win to close it out.

Alvernia have five different players record double digit digs in Wednesday's four-set match and got a team-best 11 kills each from Kristen Rupp (Cranford, N.J./Cranford) and Alyssa Soltis (Allentown, Pa./Parkland).
