Alvernia Storms Out Of The Gate With 3-0 Win Over Keystone

Four Different Crusaders Rack Up Five Or More Kills

Reading, Pa. (Sept. 1, 2011) - Freshman Liz Newman (Fleetwood, Pa./Brandywine Heights) was one of four Crusaders with five or more kills Thursday evening as Alvernia University (1-0) opened up the women's volleyball schedule with a 3-0 win over Keystone College (0-1).

Alvernia separated itself late in the first set pulling away for a 25-18 win then enjoyed more comfortable spreads of 25-11 and 25-7 in games two and three.

Kristen Rupp (Cranford, N.J./Cranford), Alyssa Soltis (Allentown, Pa./Parkland), and Cody Dripchak (Breezy Point, N.Y./Bishop Kearney) had five kills each and junior setter Tori Beck (Quakertown, Pa./Quakertown) finished with a team-high 15 assists.

The Crusaders contined the season playing Swarthmore College Friday afternoon at 4:00 p.m. at the Greyhound Premiere Tournament hosted by Moravian College.
