Alvernia University Sports Medicine
The mission of St. Luke's University Health Network Sports Medicine Staff at Alvernia University is to provide the highest quality medical care while maintaining a safe environment for the student-athletes participating in NCAA Division III athletics. The Sports Medicine Staff's goal is to empower patients with the knowledge and skills to maintain overall health through wellness habits now and into the future. Our staff is committed to building trust and conducting ourselves to the highest ethical standards outlined by the National Athletic Trainers' Association (NATA). Through our dedication to the student-athlete, the Sports Medicine Staff strives to be a leading provider among all Sports Medicine programs.
The vision of St. Luke's Sports Medicine Staff at Alvernia University is to change the current standard of care provided in Athletic Training Clinics through focused personal care with multi-clinician interactions documented to enhance the effectiveness of each visit.
The Sports Medicine Staff consists of six National Athletic Trainers' Association Board of Certification (NATABOC) certified, Pennsylvania Licensed Athletic Trainers, a team orthopedic physician, a sports medicine specialist and a general medicine team physician.
The Sports Medicine Staff is housed in the newly renovated athletic training room located in the Physical Education Center on Alvernia's campus. The Licensed Athletic Trainers provide athletic training services under the guidelines set forth by the Pennsylvania Athletic Training Practice Act, by the National Athletic Trainers' Association Board of Certification, and by the standing orders provided by the team physicians.
Alvernia University's Sports Medicine Staff supports the University's mission statement to foster broadly educated, life-long learners, engaged citizens and ethical leaders.
