Crusaders Drop Conference Opener 3-2 At Albright

Beck Finishes With 23 Assists

Reading, Pa. (Sept. 13, 2011) - Alvernia University (4-3, 0-1) dropped its conference opener 3-2 at Albright College (1-8, 1-0) Tuesday evening in Commonweatlh Conference women's volleyball action.

The host Lions appeared ready to cruise to victory winning the first two sets 25-11, 25-23, but Alvernia extended the match with a 25-13 win in set three followed by a 25-23 win in set four.  Albright then returned to earlier form with a 15-6 win in the fifth and deciding set.

Tori Beck (Quakertown, Pa./Quakertown) finished with 23 assists for the Crusaders who got eight kills apiece from three different players, Kristen Rupp (Cranford, N.J./Cranford), Liz Newman (Fleetwood, Pa./Brandywine Heights), and Alyssa Soltis (Allentown, Pa./Parkland).

The Crusaders are set for a rescheduled non-conference match at Penn State-Harrisburg this Thursday.
