Reading, Pa. (Sept. 17, 2011) - Freshman Liz Newman (Fleetwood, Pa./Brandywine Heights) reached double figures in kills for the first time in her career with a team-high 13 Saturday afternoon, but Alvernia University (5-5) fell short in a 3-1 loss to Delaware Valley College (7-3) Saturday afternoon in match three of the Alvernia Tri-Match at the Physical Education Center.

Alvernia bounced back from a 25-18 loss in the opening set to even the match with a 25-22 win in set two, but the Aggies responded with a resounding 25-14 win in set three and closed the match with a 25-21 win.

Alvernia freshman Brittany Wolfe (Pine Grove, Pa./Pine Grove) also reached double figures in kills with 11.  Tori Beck (Quakertown, Pa./Quakertown) posted team-highs with 24 assists and 23 digs.

The Crusaders return to the conference schedule at Lebanon Valley College on Tuesday.
