Martyn Scores A Pair For Alvernia

Reading, Pa. (Sept. 18, 2011) - Alvernia University (4-1-1) scored early and often in a 6-0 win over Berkeley College (N.J.) (1-5) Sunday afternoon in non-conference men's soccer action at Schlager Memorial Field.

Senior Kyle Mellon (Philadelphia, Pa./Father Judge) got it started in the fourth minute finishing off a rebound from Kyle Martyn (Media, Pa./Penncrest) then Martyn buried back-to-back goals in the 14th and 16th minutes to put the Crusaders up 3-0 early on.

They enjoyed the 3-0 lead at the break and built on that early in the second half.  Tyler Reinoehl (Sinking Spring, Pa./Wilson) scored his first of the season four minutes into the second half and Eric Franks (Reading, Pa./Exeter) burried his third of the season two minutes later, and newly added Nick Fore (Wyomissing, Pa./Wilson) scored the final goal of the game in the 87th minute.

Franks and Josh Wollaston (Middletown, Del./Caravel Academy) both finished with a pair of assists.  Ben Diller (Etters, Pa./Red Land) and Matt Wells (Linwood, Pa./Chichester) split time in net, but neither was tested in the Crusaders' third shutout of the season.

Alvernia will close out a four-game home stand Wednesday hosting Ursinus College for a 7:00 night game.
