Alvernia Scores A Goal In The First And Second Half

BOX SCORE

St. Davids, Pa. (Sept. 20, 2011) - Alvernia (4-2) got a goal from Sam Landis (Watsontown, Pa./Warrior Run) in the first half and Lauren Guido (Fleetwood, Pa./Fleetwood) added an insurance goal late in the second half as Alvernia defeated host Eastern University (2-3) this afternoon in non-conference action.

Landis opened the scoring with her team-leading third goal of the season off of Alvernia's lone penalty corner chance in the first half.  Her goal came in the 29th minute of a fairly even first half otherwise, with Alvernia tallying four shots to Eastern's five and earning one penalty corner to Eastern's three.

The game remained 1-0 for most of the second half before Guido found a rebound and slotted it back into the left side of the net in the 69th minute.  The Crusaders outshot the Eagles 7-3 in the second half.

Crusader goalie Erin Wunsch (West Lawn, Pa./Wilson) recorded her fourth win and second shut out of the season.  Alvernia returns to action when they travel to Arcadia on Sept. 24th to open Commonwealth Conference play at 1:00pm.
