Center Valley, Pa. (Sept. 24, 2011) - Kelsey Gill (State College, Pa./State College Area) scored her second game-winner of the season with just under four minutes to play as Alvernia University (5-4) overcame a 1-0 halftime deficit for a 2-1 win over DeSales University (1-7) on homecoming Saturday afternoon at DeSales.

The Bulldogs scored the opening goal in the 14th minute and frustrated the Crusaders with an offensive trap that caught the guests eight times.

"We made a few adjustments at halftime," said Alvernia head coach Bill Bonewitz.  "Specifically to deal with the offsides trap, and we were able to overcome the early deficit and get back over .500."

Amy Mesce (Pittstown, N.J./Delaware Valley Regional) scored on a header in the 59th minute to tie the game.  The goal was setup by senior Sara Gimber (Gilbertsville, Pa./Boyertown).  Gill beat the DSU goalie to a 50-50 ball in the game's final minute.  Her first attempted rebounded off the goalie and carromed off Gill and into the net.

The Crusaders return home and open the conference schedule next Saturday hosting Lycoming College.
