Reading, Pa. (Sept. 28, 2011) - Freshman Erin Wunsch (West Lawn, Pa./Wilson) recorded her third shutout of the season and junior Miranda Peto (Phoenixville, Pa./Phoenixville) scored a pair of goals to lead Alvernia University (7-2) to a 5-0 win over Delaware Valley College (2-6) Wednesday afternoon in non-conference field hockey action at Schlager Memorial Field.

Peto got the scoring going early with an unassisted goal 38 seconds after the opening whistle.  Katy Eby (New Holland, Pa./Garden Spot) made a nifty move around a defender in the 23rd minute and blasted home a shot off the boards inside the far post for a 2-0 lead, and Peto's second of the game in the 29th minute put the Crusaders up 2-0 at the break.

Rains--with rolling thunder--varied from a drizzle to a downpour through the first half and into the second, but the skies cleared midway through the second half.

Erin Solley (Reading, Pa./Oley Valley) scored on a deflection after the clouds parted and Sam Landis (Watsontown, Pa./Warrior Run) burried her sixth goal of the season with under 10 minutes to play.

Wunsch was never tested as the Crusaders enjoyed a healthy 27-0 advantage in shots.  Del Val keeper Hollis Hancock made 16 saves for the Aggies.

Alvernia will travel to Montclair State on Saturday.
