Radnor, Pa. (Sept. 28, 2011) - Senior Kyle Martyn (Media, Pa./Penncrest) scored his fifth goal in the last six games and freshman David McEwen (Cambridge, England/Upper Merion) added another helping Alvernia University (6-2-1) to a 2-0 win over Cabrini College (5-4-1) Wednesday afternoon in non-conference men's soccer action at Cabrini.

Junior keeper Ben Diller (Etters, Pa./Red Land) needed to make just a pair of saves to record the shutout.

Less than six minutes into the contest, senior Domenic Montone (Elkins Park, Pa./Abington) headed a cross to McEwen who finished a volley from directly in front of the Cavaliers' cage.  Senior defender Nate Swarr (Quarryville, Pa./Solanco) sent Martyn in on a short breakaway in the 63rd minute and Martyn finished his sixth of the year.

The teams sat through a 30-minute rain delay shortly after Martyn's goal put the Crusaders up 2-0.

Alvernia returns home to open the conference schedule against Lycoming on Saturday.
