Purchase, N.Y. (Sept. 4, 2011) - Alvernia University (1-1) allowed a pair of goals early in the first half then two more in the second to fall behind 4-0 and couldn't recover in a 4-2 loss at Manhattanville (2-0) Sunday afternoon in non-conference men's soccer action at GoValiants.com Field.

The Valiants scored on a corner play in the 10th minute then a rebound in the 16th minute and held the 2-0 lead at halftime.

Manhattanville doubled its lead with goals in the 59th and 70th minutes.  Erick Olazabal and Keston George both scored two each to lead the Valiants.

Alvernia got on the board on David McEwen's (Flourtown, Pa./Upper Merion) penalty kick in the 78th minute and Kyle Martyn (Media, Pa./Penncrest) cut the deficit in half in the 85th minute.

Ben Diller (Etters, Pa./Red Land) made four saves for the Crusaders while Zach Benton was credited with one for the Valiants.

Alvernia continues the non-conference road schedule at Gwynedd-Mercy College on Wednesday.
