Catonsville, Md. (Sept. 6, 2011) - Kristen Rupp (Cranford, N.J./Cranford) and Liz Newman (Fleetwood, Pa./Brandywine Heights) had a team-high six kills apiece leading Alvernia University (4-2) to a 3-0 win over the College of Notre Dame (Md.) (1-2) Tuesday evening in non-conference women's volleyball action at the MBK Complex.

The Crusaders were able to pull out a close set in the opener winning 26-24 then two wins by more comfortable margins, 25-19 and 25-18, closed out the match.  Tori Beck (Quakertown, Pa./Quakertown) totaled 16 assists on the team's 23 total kills and Toni Maurer (Center Valley, Pa./Southern Lehigh) had a team-best 11 digs.

Alvernia will continue the current road portion of the schedule with a trip to Penn State-Harrisburg on Thursday.  The Crusaders play at home again in a tri-match with Delaware Valley and Immaculata on Sept. 17.
