Gwynedd Valley, Pa. (Sept. 7, 2011) - Alvernia University freshman Josh Wollaston (Middletown, Del./Caravel Academy) connected on the first goal of his career in the 51st minute and junior Ben Diller (Etters, Pa./Red Land) needed just one save in the Crusaders' (2-1) 1-0 shutout of Gwynedd-Mercy College (1-2) Wednesday afternoon at Gwynedd.

After a scoreless first half that saw the Crusaders rip off eight of their 20 shots Wollaston hit a strike six minutes into the second frame that GMC keeper Mike Leonard couldn't contain.  Leonard posted six of his nine saves in the second half to keep the Griffins within striking distance, but they couldn't solve the Crusaders' defense.

Alvernia returns home where it will host a four-team tournament this weekend with Albright, Eastern, and Wilkes.  Alvernia and Wilkes will kick things off Saturday at 2:00 followed by Albright / Eastern.  Sunday at 2:00 will be Albright / Wilkes followed by Alvernia / Eastern.
