Bethlehem, Pa. (Sept. 3, 2011) - Alvernia University (3-2) earned a pair of five-set wins at the Moravian College Women's Volleyball Greyhound Premiere Friday and Saturday going 2-2 to finish second in the Gold Bracket.  Sophomore Toni Maurer (Center Valley, Pa./Southern Lehigh) was named to the All-Tournament Team for the second straight season.

The Crusaders opened the weekend with a 3-0 loss to Swarthmore College before topping Centenary 3-2 in the second match Friday.  Alvernia entered the Gold Bracket with the other 1-1 teams after pool play, Ursinus and Wilkes.  The Crusaders lost three close sets to Ursinus before ending the weekend with a 3-2 win over Wilkes.

Alyssa Soltis (Allentown, Pa./Parkland) led the team with 36 kills, eight service aces, and 13 blocks.  Liz Newman (Fleetwood, Pa./Brandywine Heights) totaled 27 kills and 11 blocks while Tori Beck (Quakertown, Pa./Quakertown) finished the weekend with 91 assists.

Maurer finished the weekend with a team-high 75 digs and five service aces.

Alvernia continues the schedule traveling to College of Notre Dame on Tuesday.
