Elizabethtown, Pa. (Oct. 23, 2012) - Elizabethtown College (20-9, 6-2) punched its own ticket to the Commonwealth Conference playoffs with a 3-0 win over Alvernia University (11-15, 3-5) Tuesday evening in women's volleyball action at Etown.

The Jays opened the match with a 25-15 win in the first set then finished up back-to-back 25-18 wins to close the match.

Alvernia had a team-best eight kills each from Kristen Rupp (Cranford, N.J./Cranford) and Liz Newman (Fleetwood, Pa./Brandywine Heights).  Tori Beck (Quakertown, Pa./Quakertown) finished with 22 assists and Toni Maurer (Center Valley, Pa./Southern Lehigh) had 20 digs.

The Crusaders, who were knocked out of playoff contention with the loss, will close out the season hosting Widener University on Thursday.
