Alvernia Drops Two At Moravian Invitational

Lantz Leads With 19 Kills

Reading, Pa. (Aug. 31, 2012) - Alvernia University (0-2) dropped its first two matches of the season at the 10th Annual Greyhound Premiere Volleyball Invitational Friday afternoon at Moravian.

The Crusaders fell in five sets to Ursinus to open the season pushing the fifth at deciding set to 18-16 then took a set off the host Greyhounds before suffering a 3-1 defeat.

Freshman Brittany Lantz (New Holland, Pa./Garden Spot) led the way with 19 kills over two matches while Liz Newman (Fleetwood, Pa./Brandywine Heights) and Kristen Rupp (Cranford, N.J./Cranford) added 18 each.  Tori Beck (Quakertown, Pa./Quakertown) finished the night with 53 assists.

Alvernia will face Wilkes University at 12:00 noon on Saturday and close out the tournament facing King's College at 2:00 p.m.
