Dallas, Pa. (Sept. 11, 2012) - Junior Taylor Eichelberger (Lancaster, Pa./Penn Manor) scored twice in the opening eight minutes and sophomore Erin Wunsch (West Lawn, Pa./Wilson) needed just one save to record her third shutout of the season as Alvernia University (3-2) defeated Misericordia University (2-4) 4-0 Tuesday evening in non-conference field hockey action at Misericordia.

Eichelberger scored in the fifth minute on a penalty corner assisted by Erin Solley (Reading, Pa./Oley Valley) the punched in her own rebound in the eighth minute for a 2-0 lead prompting a Misericordia timeout.  Lauren Guido (Fleetwood, Pa./Fleetwood) scored just over 90 seconds later and the Crusaders had a 3-0 lead.

Solley scored Alvernia's fourth goal of the game in the 32nd minute on another corner--the Crusaders had nine in the first half.

Wunsch's save came two minutes into the second half, and Alvernia cruised to the 4-0 win.

Alvernia will travel to Gwynedd-Mercy College for a non-conference game on Saturday.
