Reading, Pa. (Sept. 19, 2012) - On Wednesday evening the Alvernia University men's soccer team (5-1-2) needed just one goal to defeat the Cabrini College Cavaliers (2-5-1) at Schlager Memorial Field in non-conference action.

The game's lone goal came off the right foot of sophomore Alex Martyn (Media Pa/Penncrest) 35 minutes into the first half of play. Freshman Ricky Bruno (Reading, Pa./Exeter) hit Martyn with a quick pass in open space in front of the Cabrini goal. Martyn dribbled once before firing the ball into the back of the net for his team-leading fifth goal of the year.

The Crusaders played high intensity soccer and kept the ball in Cabrini territory the majority of the match.
Senior keeper Ben Diller (Etters, Pa/Red Land) stopped four shots and recorded his 16th career shutout, building on his school shutout record.

The Crusaders return to action on Saturday when they take on DeSales at home.
