Zack Wilson Was The Lone Goal Scorer For The Crusaders

BOX SCORE

Wilkes-Barre, Pa. (Sept. 26, 2012) - The Monarchs from King's College (5-2-1) scored halfway through the first half, and again ten minutes into the second half to take the 2-0 lead and held on for the 2-1 win this evening in men's soccer non-conference action at King's College.  Alvernia (5-2-3) sophomore Zack Wilson (Newark, De./Caravel Academy) netted Alvernia's lone goal in the 65th minute.

The Monarchs jumped ahead 1-0 in the 23rd minute as Chris Nygren headed the ball into the net directly off a throw-in for his third goal of the season.  They got some insurance in the 54th minute as Daniel Hernandez found the back of the net after a scramble for the ball.

Wilson got one back for the Crusaders in the 65th minute as he drilled a shot into the upper right corner, but it wasn't enough as the Monarchs held on for the 2-1 win.

Alvernia peppered the King's defense with ten shots, three on goal, and King's just about matched that with nine total shots, three on goal as well.

Alvernia is back in action on Sept. 29th when they travel to Lycoming for their Commonwealth Conference opener at 1:30pm.
