St. Davids, Pa. (Sept. 3, 2012) - Alvernia University (1-0-1) scored a pair of goals in the opening 30 minutes and Eastern University (0-0-1) came back with two in the final 30 minutes of regulation in a 3-3 draw Monday afternoon in Men's Soccer non-conference action at Eastern.

The Crusaders opening goals came courtesy the brothers Martyn.  Sophomore Alex Martyn (Media, Pa./Penncrest) opened the scoring in the seventh minute and senior Kyle Martyn (Media, Pa./Penncrest) made it 2-0 Crusaders with a goal in the 23rd minute assisted by RJ Fisher (Philadelphia, Pa./Roman Catholic).

Eastern was able to cut the Alvernia lead in half with a goal in the 33rd minute and the Crusaders maintained the 2-1 advantage at the break.

Sophomore Josh Wollaston (Middletown, Del./Caravel Academy), who was coming off a two-assist game on Friday, scored 15 minutes into the second half to reestablish the two-goal cushion, but the Eagles needed just three minutes to answer.

Eastern tied the score at 3-3 with a goal seven minutes before the end of regulation.

The Eagles cranked up the offense in the first overtime period ripping off seven shots over 10 minutes, but Alvernia keeper Ben Diller (Etters, Pa./Red Land) stopped the four that were on frame and finished with seven saves for the game.

Alvernia was able to snap off a pair of shots in the extra periods.  One by Alex Martyn in the first overtime that sailed wide and a second by Ricky Bruno (Reading, Pa./Exeter) that was saved.

The Crusaders have a quick turnaround and will travel to Gwynedd-Mercy on Wednesday.
