Gwynedd-Valley, Pa. (Sept. 12, 2012) - The Crusader Volleyball team posted a 1-1 record at the Gwynedd Mercy tri-match this afternoon.  Alvernia (2-5) opened their day with a 3-0 win over host Gwynedd Mercy (0-4) bfore falling to Shenandoah University (5-0) by a score of 3-0.

In their first game of the day, Alvernia took Gwynedd Mercy in three straight sets; 25-12, 25-22 and 25-15.  The Crusaders were paced by junior Kristen Rupp (Cranford, NJ/Cranford) who posted ten kills and nine digs.  Brittany Lantz (New Holland, Pa./Garden Spot) was also impressive with seven kills and four assisted blocks.

Alvernia fell in three straight sets to Shenandoah in their second game of the day; 25-19, 25-19 and 25-18.  Rupp again posted ten kills and Lantz added six.  Krissy Silio (Springfield, Pa./Springfield) had 12 assists and 11 digs.

Alvernia returns to action on when they travel to Commonwealth Conference newcomer Hood University on Sept. 11th for a 7:00pm start.
