Women's Soccer Can't Answer LVC In 2-1 Loss

Annville, Pa. (Oct. 13, 2013) - Lebanon Valley College (7-4-2, 2-1) netted the game-winner late in the first half and Alvernia (8-5-1, 0-3) couldn't answer as the Dutchmen defeated the Crusaders by a score of 2-1 Sunday afternoon in Commonwealth Conference action.

Lebanon Valley struck for first with an early opening goal in the ninth minute from Lindi Crist.  The Dutchmen held the 1-0 lead until Hannah Mallets (O'Fallon, IL/Mechanicsburg) netted her second goal of the season to tie the game up in the 28th minute.

The Dutchmen went up for good in the 40th minute with the game-winner from Johnna Garbrick.  The Crusaders were out shot 17-3 through the first half, and 25-6 through the full 90 minutes of play. 

Alvernia goalkeeper Colleen Maher (Wall, NJ/Wall Township) tallied an impressive 11 saves on the afternoon.

Things won't get any easier for the Crusaders as they look for their first Commonwealth Conference win when they travel to #7 Messiah College on Tues. Oct. 15th for a 7:00pm game.
