Reading, Pa. (Oct. 16, 2013) - Alvernia University (5-13, 1-6) earned a 15-12 win in the fifth and deciding set for a 3-2 win over Arcadia University (6-10, 1-6) Wednesday evening in Commonwealth Conference women's volleyball action at Jack McCloskey Court.

The Crusaders won the second and fourth set to force a final set.  They won three straight points on the set of freshman Jamie Morris (Wallingford, Pa./Strath Haven) to take a 12-9 lead.  Arcadia pulled within a point at 13-12, but Alvernia went to match point on a solo block by Liz Newman (Fleetwood, Pa./Brandywine Heights) then after an Arcadia timeout, tallied the last point on a solo block from Taylor Wesley (Hercules, Cal./Holy Name).

Kristen Rupp (Cranford, N.J./Cranford) had a team-high 14 kills and Morris finished with 40 assists.  Toni Maurer (Center Valley, Pa./Southern Lehigh) had 22 digs and three other players had 14 apiece.

Alvernia continues the conference schedule next Tuesday at Elizabethtown.
