Kelsey Gill (State College, Pa./State College) both scored their fifth goals of the seaon and
Katelyn Gill (State College, Pa./State College) added her first as Alvernia University (9-6-1, 1-4) earned a 3-0 win over Lycoming College (1-13, 0-5) Saturday afternoon in Commonwealth Conference women's soccer action at Alvernia.
McGrath put the Crusaders on the board scoing on a rebound of a
Laura Mauroschadt (Reading, Pa./Muhlenberg) in the 13th minute.Â
Kelsey Gill was set up for a beatuiful header goal on a corner kick by
Bridget Verdel (Hamilton Square, N.J./Notre Dame) in the 38th minute.Â
Lycoming had three separate opportunities to climb back into the game in the first 30 minutes of the second half, but couldn't put threatening shots on net until the 80th minute with College Maher (Wall, N.J./Wall Township) made a save on Kaitlyn Gulotta.
Katelyn Gill tacked on the third goal of the game in the 84th minute. Maher finished with three saves and pushed her career record for shutouts to 18. All nine of the Crusaders' wins this season have come by shutout.
Mauroschadt and Verdel both moved into a 5-way tie for second in career assists at Alvernia with 12.
Alvernia continues the conference schedule with an important game against Arcadia in Reading on Wednesday afternoon.
