Alvernia, King's Play To 1-1 Tie

Reading, Pa. (Oct. 2, 2013) - Alvernia Univeristy (3-6-1) and King's College (4-2-3) played to a 1-1 tie in non-conference men's soccer Wednesday afternoon at Alvernia.

The Crusaders opened the scoring early when sophomore Ricky Bruno (Reading, Pa./Exeter) scored 80 seconds into the game assisted by Alex Martyn (Media, Pa./Penncrest).  Alvernia kept the 1-0 lead into the halftime break thanks to four saves from David Giannini (Harleysville, Pa./Faith Christian).

The Monarchs broke through for the game-tying goal early in the second half when Daniel Hernandez scored on a rebound in the 57th minute.

Giannini finished with six saves for the Crusaders.

Alvernia will travel to Widener University to open the conference schedule on Saturday.
