Crusaders Drop 3-0 Match To Etown In Home Finale

Reading, Pa. (Oct. 22, 2013) - Elizabethtown College (15-12, 6-2) hit .314 as a team in a 3-0 win over Alvernia University (5-14, 1-7) Tuesday evening in Commonwelath Conference women's volleyball action at Jack McCloskey Court.

The Jays earned a 25-16 win in the opening set then took set two 25-18 before closing out the match 25-12 in the final set.

Alvernia got a team-high 10 kills from Liz Newman (Fleetwood, Pa./Brandywine Heights) and 24 assists from Jamie Morris (Wallingford, Pa./Strach Haven).  Toni Maurer (Center Valley, Pa./Southern Lehigh) led the defensive efforts with 15 digs.

Alvernia honored its four seniors before the final home match of the year, Maurer, Kristen Rupp (Cranford, N.J./Cranford), Amy Dziura (Columbus, N.J./Northern Burlington), and Jennifer Toledo (Reading, Pa./Reading).

The Crusaders travel to the PSU-Abington Quad Match on Saturday.
