Chester, Pa. (Oct. 5, 2013) - Sophomore Cody Shirk (East Earl, Pa./Garden Spot) scored on a free kick in the 31st minute and Alvernia University (3-6-2, 0-0-1) played Widener University (5-4-2, 0-0-1) to a 1-1 tie Saturday evening in Commonwealth Conference men's soccer action at Chester.

The Pride tallied their goal in the 64th minute on a long throw in that wasn't cleared out by the Alvernia defense.

The Crusaders split time in net with two keepers combining for three saves.  Widener got four from Jakub Valdner.

The Crusaders continue the conference schedule hosting Elizabethtown for a Kick's for Cancer game on Tuesday.
