Reading, Pa. (Oct. 8, 2013) - The Blue Jays from Elizabethtown (5-4-2, 2-0) earned their 800th program win Tuesday evening with a 2-1 defeat of Alvernia (3-7-2, 0-1-1) in Commonwealth Conference action at Alvernia. All three goals came in the first half, with the game-tying goal from Alvernia and the game-winning goal from Elizabethtown coming just seconds apart.
The first half saw the Blue Jays jump ahead 1-0 on a goal from
Zach Lee just 12 minutes into the game as he headed in a nice cross from
Martin Fevre for his first goal of the season. The Crusaders answered with the equalizer in the 22nd minute with a goal from
Ricky Bruno (Reading, Pa./Exeter), but Elizabethtown regained the lead just 24 seconds later with a goal from
Andrew Sandridge who subbed into the game just after the Crusader goal. Both teams tallied six shots and one corner kick through the first half.
The second half was a scoreless 45 minutes with each team managing just two shots and Alvernia earning one corner kick.

David Giannini (Harleysville, Pa./Faith Christian) had three saves to two goals against through 90 minutes.
The Crusaders are back in action on Sat. Oct. 12th at 3:00pm when they travel to Lebanon Valley College for another Commonwealth Conference match-up.
