#1 Stevenson Advances With 1-0 Win Over #8 Alvernia

Mustangs Score In The 12th Minute

Owings Mill, Md. (Nov. 13, 2013) - Top-seeded Stevenson University (14-8-1) scored the game's only goal in the 12th minute for a 1-0 win over #8 Alvernia University (11-8-2) Wednesday evening in quarterfinal action of the ECAC South Region Women's Soccer Championships at Stevenson.

Alexis Siejack scored her 15th goal of the season assisted by Catherine Madden.  Stevenson earned a 20-5 advantage in shots and an 11-2 advantage in corners. 

Alvernia senior Colleen Maher (Wall, N.J./Wall Township) played 86 minutes in net for the Crusaders and recorded seven saves.  Alyss Reinsel (Philadelphia, Pa./Bishop McDevitt) played the final four minutes and made one save.

Maher and Reinsel are part of an 8-player senior class that graduates from Alvernia as the winningest class in program history with a 43-31-10 record, a .571 winning percentage.  The class played in two Commonwealth Championships--making the semifinals both times--and played in two ECAC Regional Championships--making the semifinal in 2010 and the quarterfinals this season.
