Crusaders Split A Pair At Moravian

Alvernia Tops Centenary, Falls To York

BOX SCORE 1 | BOX SCORE 2 Bethlehem, Pa. (Aug. 30, 2013) - Alvernia University (1-1) opened the season splitting two matches at the Greyhound Premiere Volleyball Tournament hosted by Moravian College Friday afternoon.  The Crusaders easily bettered Centenary in three sets (25-9, 25-9, 25-14) then fell in three to York College (25-15, 25-16, 25-19).

In the opener, Liz Newman (Fleetwood, Pa./Brandywine Heights) led the way hitting an astounding .889 getting a team-best eight kills in nine attempts.  Amy Dziura (Columbus, N.J./Northern Burlington) had a team-high five aces and Jamie Morris (Wallingford, Pa./Strath Haven) started her college career with 20 assists.

Stats were not yet available for the York match.

The Crusaders move into the gold bracket and take on Marywood at 10 a.m. on Saturday followed by a match against Wilkes at 12 noon.
