Gettysburg, Pa. (Aug. 31, 2013) - Senior Laura Mauroschadt (Reading, Pa./Muhlenberg) scored in the 76th minute to pull with a goal, but Alvernia University (1-1) couldn't find the equalizer in a 2-1 loss to Grove City College (1-1) Saturday afternoon in non-conference women's soccer action at Gettysburg.

Grove City started the scoring in the 32nd minute when senior goalie Colleen Maher (Wall, N.J./Wall Township) saved a header off the crossbar and the rebound was headed back in.  It went up 2-0 in the 66th minute when the assistant referee said a shot carromed off the post and barely rolled across the goal line.

Mauroschadt scored her first goal of the season 10 minutes later on a corner kick.  Bridget Verdel (Hamilton Square, N.J./Notre Dame) took the kick and found the head of Kristen Eckert (Oradell, N.J./River Dell) who played the ball back to Mauroschadt who finished with a header.

Maher made a pair of saves in net for the Crusaders.  Grove City split time between a pair of keepers who combined for three saves.

Alvernia opens the home schedule on Wednesday hosting Lancaster Bible.
