#4 York Downs Alvernia

Crusaders Fall 3-0

Reading, Pa. (Sept. 11, 2013) - Alvernia (3-2) fell to visiting York College (4-0) by a score of 3-0 Wednesday afternoon in non-conference action on Alvernia's Turf Field.  York was ranked fourth in the latest NSCAA/Continental Tire NCAA DIII Men's National Poll.

The Spartan's managed two goals in the first half, coming in the 34th and 41st minute.  The first goal of the game came from Brendan Saberton who collected the rebound off of Crusader goalkeeper Matt Wells (Linwood, Pa./Chichester) and redirected it lower left.  York's second goal came off a nice cross from Jake Hower to Chris Weaver who one-timed it for the 2-0 lead heading into halftime. 

Wells posted one save and two goals against in his 45 minutes of play.

The Spartans got their third and final goal in the 54th minute from Taylor Brummit who sent a bullet from way out, perfectly placed in the upper right corner of the net.

David Gianinni (Harleysville, Pa./Faith Christian) played the second half in net for Alvernia, recording three saves and one goal against.

Alvernia is back in action on Sat. Sept. 14th at 7pm at Dickinson College.  Dickinson is currently ranked 12th in the latest NSCAA National Poll.
