McGrath Posts Hat Trick, Crusaders Win 3-0

Alvernia Defeats King's Behind Freshman's Effort

BOX SCORE
Reading, Pa. (Sept. 11, 2013) - Alvernia freshman Bri McGrath (Sicklerville, NJ/Winslow) posted a hat trick, the first three goals of her career, as the Crusaders (4-1) defeated visiting King's College (3-1) Wednesday evening in non-conference action on Alvernia's turf field.

McGrath got her team on the board with a goal in the 24th minute as she fired a shot that caromed into the net off of a King's defender.  She added her second goal of the game early in the second half thanks to a nifty cross from Laura Mauroschadt (Reading, Pa./Muhlenberg) that she gathered and redirected lower right.  McGrath's third tally came in the 82nd minute off a fast break up the left side of the field where she beat the Monarch's goalie with a soft shot to the left.

Alvernia goalkeeper Colleen Maher (Wall, NJ/Wall Township) played all 90 minutes in net and recorded three saves for the shutout win.  This is her third straight shut out, bringing her shutout streak to 294 minutes dating back to August 31st.

The Crusaders are back in action on Sat. Sept. 14th when they travel to Gwynedd Mercy for a non-conference game beginning at 12:00 pm.
