Crusaders Fall In Overtime

F&M Defeats Alvernia 1-0

Reading, Pa. (Sept. 18, 2013) - After a scoreless 90 minutes of play, the Diplomats from F&M (5-0-1) got a goal in the 98th minute for the 1-0 overtime win over Alvernia (3-4) this evening in non-conference action at Alvernia.  F&M is currently ranked fourth in the NSCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional Poll.

Regulation was a fairly even affair, with F&M managing ten shots and Alvernia posting nine.  Alvernia goalkeeper David Giannini (Harleysville, Pa./Faith Christian) needed six saves, including one off the post to preserve the shutout through regulation.

Alvernia fired off the first shot of overtime, but it was Diplomat Ben Beaver with his team-leading sixth goal of the season that ended the game.

Alvernia is back in action on Sat. Sept. 21st when they travel to DeSales for a non-conference game beginning at 3:30pm.
